Bar/Bri Class Action Settles

$49M settlement, and a $125 check for every class member. Nice!

The question is, if your firm paid your Bar/Bri fees, do they get the check?

Actually, if they paid your fees, that should have been reported as taxable income.

So you get the check, but you probably cheated on your taxes.

Easy there. Any summer stipend and/or fee payment would have shown up on your W-2 for that year. In fact, my summer stipend had taxes withheld from it. It'd imagine that most people who had their firms pay their fees were sufficiently taxed for it.

So at the very least the course taker should get a percentage of the $125 equal to whatever taxes they paid on it.

how do i get my $125 check??
